SS Rajamouli, the mastermind behind some of Indian cinema’s biggest blockbusters, is unparalleled when it comes to his consistency and potency. While there may be occasional competitors, Rajamouli stands in a league of his own.
But in the Telugu market, another director seems to have captured the hearts of audiences even more than Rajamouli – Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
After Nag Ashwin’s recent post suggesting that team Kalki could reach 1000 crore without violence and provocation, Telugu Twitter exploded into a frenzy. Speculation arose that Ashwin was hinting at Vanga’s upcoming film, Animal, with his mention of violence and provocation.
Interestingly, the Telugu Twitterverse overwhelmingly sided with Sandeep Reddy Vanga on this matter.
Comments such as, “Ashwin needed Mahabharatha, star cameos, and 600 crore budgets to achieve what Kalki did at the box office. But Vanga did it with an A-rated film, a 100 crore budget, and a lot of negativity from day one with Animal. Vanga is a different breed,” flooded social media.
This show of support for Vanga marks a significant moment in Telugu cinema, as it is the first time the community has rallied behind a director so passionately.
While Rajamouli might be expected to receive this level of adoration, controversies surrounding his latest film RRR have left him at odds with some NTR fans. As a result, he often faces criticism from a section of Telugu Twitter when his name comes up.
In contrast, Vanga seems to have won over the entire Telugu Twitter space with his films Arjun Reddy and Animal. With his upcoming project, Spirit, he is poised to solidify his position even further.
