Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson may have hit a bit of a rough patch with critics in their latest film, Fly Me to the Moon, but the audience is singing a different tune. While Rotten Tomatoes critics have given the movie a 67% approval rating, the audience score is soaring high at 88%. In fact, it’s just one point away from matching the record-breaking 89% audience score of Tatum’s 2022 film, Dog.

Directed by Greg Berlanti, Fly Me to the Moon follows the romantic escapades of a marketing specialist and the NASA director during the iconic Space Race of the 1960s. With a star-studded cast including Jim Rash, Ray Romano, and Woody Harrelson, this film promises to take viewers on a nostalgic journey through a bygone era.

Originally intended for a straight-to-streaming release on Apple TV+, Fly Me to the Moon’s success in test screenings prompted a theatrical debut. Berlanti shared, “The testing audience also kept bringing up wanting to see an original movie… They didn’t know what was going to happen in the movie and that was so fresh for them.”

Despite its warm reception from audiences, the film struggled at the box office, opening at No. 5 and projected to earn around $10 million for its debut. With production costs exceeding $100 million, the movie may have a chance to shine on streaming platforms like Apple TV+ in the near future.

Catch Fly Me to the Moon in theaters now and buckle up for a ride through the cosmos with Tatum and Johansson. Source: Rotten Tomatoes.
