Young Calypso Girls secure spot at Netball World Youth Cup

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-21 netball team has secured their spot in the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup after a dominating performance against Grenada in the third-place playoff. The match, which took place in Guadeloupe on July 14, ended with TT emerging victorious with a score of 61-39.

Despite facing a setback in the semi-final against Jamaica, where they lost 40-33, the Trinidad and Tobago team remained determined to secure their spot in the World Youth Cup. Their opportunity came in the form of a match against Grenada, where they showcased their skills and emerged triumphant.

Throughout the game, TT displayed their strength on the court, taking an early lead and maintaining it throughout the match. With a standout performance from player Shiah Lewis, who was awarded player of the match, the team’s hard work and determination paid off.

Head coach Kalifa Mc Collin expressed her pride in the team’s performance, highlighting their resilience and ability to learn from previous matches. She emphasized the importance of staying focused and executing their game plan, which ultimately led to their success.

President of the TT Netball Association, Sherry Ann Blackburn, praised the team and officials for their victory, acknowledging the hard work and dedication that went into achieving this milestone. She emphasized the importance of continued support for the team as they prepare for the upcoming World Youth Cup in Gibraltar.

As the Trinidad and Tobago Under-21 team celebrates their qualification for the Netball World Youth Cup, they are determined to continue working hard and making their country proud on the international stage.
