In a recent interview with Kyodo News, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg left no room for doubt – North Korea is providing significant military support to Russia in its ongoing war of aggression in Ukraine. Stoltenberg expressed concerns about the possibility of Russia reciprocating by aiding North Korea in weapons development programs.

The NATO summit declaration condemning North Korean weapons exports to Russia was met with disdain by Pyongyang, with the Korean Central News Agency labeling the document as “illegal.” This has raised further suspicions about the extent of cooperation between North Korea, Russia, and China, as they find ways to circumvent Western sanctions.

Tensions are escalating on the Korean peninsula, with Seoul and Washington signing agreements at the NATO Summit to enhance their deterrence capabilities against North Korea’s military threats. Joint military drills will be conducted to implement newly announced guidelines, including the deployment of US nuclear assets.

As relations between North and South Korea deteriorate, Pyongyang continues to provoke by conducting weapons tests and sending debris-laden balloons across the border. The once cordial military deal between the two Koreas has been suspended, further escalating the already tense situation.
