Nexon Addresses Concerns Over Iconography Similarities in The First Descendant and Destiny 2

In a surprising turn of events, players have noticed some striking similarities between the icons and weapons used in Nexon’s new free-to-play sci-fi shooter, The First Descendant, and Bungie’s Destiny 2.

After Forbes initially raised the issue, Nexon responded by stating they are taking the concerns seriously and are committed to ensuring that any imagery that may appear similar to Destiny 2 clearly reflects the unique identity of their game.

According to Nexon, The First Descendant was developed with a deep respect for other games in the looter shooter genre, including Destiny 2, which served as an inspiration during the development process. The team at Nexon is dedicated to making adjustments to the game to differentiate it and provide fans with a unique experience.

The First Descendant invites players to “accept your calling” and join the fight against invaders for the survival of humanity. With character growth, dynamic battles, colossal boss battles, and customization, the game is now available on various platforms including PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and last-gen consoles.

Meanwhile, Destiny 2 developer Bungie recently disabled rewards generated in private Crucible matches due to an unspecified issue. Players speculated that the issue was connected to a glitch that allowed players to farm items and consumables in private matches even when away from their consoles or PCs.

It’s clear that both The First Descendant and Destiny 2 have captured the attention of fans in the looter shooter genre, and it will be interesting to see how Nexon continues to differentiate their game while still paying homage to the games that inspired them.
