In a recent interview with Variety, actress Emma Roberts shared her thoughts on why “Madame Web” failed to impress at the box office. The 33-year-old star didn’t hold back, stating, “Things work; things don’t work. Everyone likes to act like they can predict if they’re going to work or they’re not. And the truth is, you can’t.” Roberts emphasized the unpredictability of success in the entertainment industry, acknowledging that sometimes projects resonate with audiences long after their initial release.

Despite the mixed reception, Roberts expressed her personal enjoyment of the superhero film in which she portrays Spider-Man’s mom, Mary Parker. Alongside a star-studded cast including Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott, Roberts commended director S.J. Clarkson for her work on the film.

Although “Madame Web” received criticism from critics and struggled at the box office, Roberts remains positive about her experience working on the project. She told ComicBook.com that she relished the opportunity to take on the role of a comic book character and would be open to exploring more action-packed roles in the future.

With an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and minimal worldwide earnings, “Madame Web” faced challenges from the start. Lead actress Dakota Johnson, who plays clairvoyant paramedic Cassandra “Cassie” Webb/Madame Web, voiced her dissatisfaction with the production process, attributing the film’s shortcomings to the influence of committee decisions over artistic vision.

For fans of the Marvel universe, the lackluster reception of “Madame Web” may come as a disappointment. However, the candid insights from the film’s stars offer a glimpse into the complexities of Hollywood’s blockbuster landscape and the harsh realities of bringing beloved comic book characters to life on the big screen.
