Three men lost their lives in separate incidents in Santa Cruz, Sangre Grande, and Point Fortin between the night of July 5 and the morning of July 6.

Firstly, Brent “Tommy” Carrington was fatally ambushed on Saddle Road in Santa Cruz around 8:15 pm on July 5. He was found in his gold Nissan Almera with gunshot wounds and sadly succumbed to his injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

In Sangre Grande, Keron Modeste-Jack passed away after an altercation where he allegedly attacked a man with a broken bottle. He was taken to Sangre Grande General Hospital by his wife but sadly died later in the evening.

Lastly, Deshawn Cornwall, a 25-year-old labourer from Guapo, was shot in Point Fortin on the morning of July 6 and later died in the hospital. Witnesses described it as a “mad thing happening in Point Fortin” and one man expressed relief for not being at his usual hangout spot near where Cornwall was killed.

Cornwall had left his Cochrane Village home late at night, telling his mother he was going to meet with his brother and others in Point Fortin. Loud gunshots were heard in the area, leading to the discovery of Cornwall with gunshot wounds near a silver Nissan Wingroad wagon. Despite efforts to save him, Cornwall was pronounced dead by doctors at the Point Fortin Hospital.

Crime scene investigators found a total of 17 nine-millimeter shells at the scene of the crime, indicating a violent and tragic end to Cornwall’s life.
