A 50-year-old man from Embacadere in San Fernando has recently appeared in court, charged with the murder of Denzil Brewster. Christopher Bethel, also known as Redman and Reddo, faced the San Fernando Criminal Master Court on July 4 after instructions were received from Sabrina Jaglal, acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on June 26 around 8:10 pm when Brewster, 33, was socializing outside a bar on Lord Street in San Fernando. An altercation ensued between Brewster and another man, leading to Brewster being fatally stabbed multiple times. The assailant then fled the scene, leaving Brewster, a resident of Cedar Hill in Princes Town, grievously injured.
Despite being rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital, Brewster succumbed to his injuries around 8:35 pm. The investigations into the murder were spearheaded by ASPs Persad and Maharaj, along with Sgt Bridgemohan from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three. Cpl Latchman from the same bureau was responsible for laying the charge against Bethel.
The case has been adjourned until November 1, as the legal proceedings continue in this tragic incident.
