Chet Hanks, son of beloved actor Tom Hanks, is setting the record straight on his phrase “white boy summer.” In a recent Instagram post, Chet condemned those who have twisted the meaning of the phrase to promote hate, emphasizing that “White boy summer was created to be fun, playful, and a celebration of fly white boys who love beautiful queens of every race.”

The 33-year-old went on to express his hope for everyone to spread love and treat each other with kindness and dignity. This statement comes in response to reports from the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, highlighting how far-right extremists have co-opted the phrase “white boy summer” to spread hate and bigotry.

Chet originally coined the term in May, playfully declaring it as a “#WBS” or White Boy Summer. The phrase was inspired by Megan Thee Stallion’s hit song “Hot Girl Summer.” In the music video for his song “White Boy Summer,” Chet even wore a “stop hate” shirt, emphasizing his commitment to promoting positivity.

Despite facing backlash on social media in the past for his declaration of a “white boy summer,” Chet has remained steadfast in his message. He clarified that when he refers to a white boy summer, he is not talking about a certain stereotype, but rather a carefree and fun-loving vibe.

As Chet continues to navigate the complexities surrounding his phrase, he remains committed to spreading love and unity, hoping that his message will resonate with others who share his values.
