Imagine Dragons lead singer, Dan Reynolds, is spilling the tea on how his romance with actress Minka Kelly blossomed into something truly beautiful. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Reynolds reminisced about the unique way he and Kelly first connected, even before meeting face-to-face.
The pair first met in 2022 through a mutual friend, but due to Kelly’s busy filming schedule, they had to resort to long phone conversations to get to know each other. Despite not meeting in person right away, their bond grew stronger as Reynolds shared his music with Kelly, who reciprocated by giving him a glimpse into her upcoming memoir, ‘Tell Me Everything’.
“It ended up being a really beautiful thing and brought us a lot closer,” Reynolds shared with PEOPLE. “I think it helped us both kind of understand each other on a deeper level quite quickly.”
Reflecting on their unconventional beginnings, Reynolds described their connection as “really strange and awesome,” adding that learning about Kelly’s colorful life before even meeting her was a unique experience.
The lovebirds were first linked romantically in November 2022, shortly after Reynolds separated from his wife of 11 years, Aja Volkman. Despite the split, Reynolds remains dedicated to his children, whom he refers to as his “favorite part of life”.
“Fatherhood is my favorite part of life. I love my four kids so much,” Reynolds gushed. “I feel like I have the luckiest career in the world, [but] that’s always been my first priority, is making sure that I’m showing up in the ways that I need to to love on these kids.”
