In a recent interview on Rolling Stone’s Music Now Podcast, Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish shared his thoughts on country music star Morgan Wallen and the controversy surrounding his past use of a racial slur. Rucker believes it’s time for award shows like the CMAs and the ACMs to forgive Wallen and acknowledge his growth as a person.

“I think Morgan’s become a better person since that,” Rucker said. “I’ve known Morgan a long time. Since all that happened, Morgan’s tried to really better himself and become a better person and see the world in a much better way.”

Despite the backlash Wallen faced in 2021, including losing radio play and award eligibility, his music continued to soar in popularity. His album “Dangerous: The Double Album” even reached No. 1 on the charts. Wallen’s immense talent and success have kept him at the top of the country music scene, with hits like “Last Night.”

To show his remorse, Wallen has made efforts to give back, donating songwriting royalties to the NAACP and pledging $500,000 to Black-led organizations. While he has faced legal troubles, such as felony charges for a bar incident in Nashville, Wallen remains a prominent figure in the music industry.

Both Hootie and the Blowfish and Morgan Wallen have upcoming tour dates in 2024. Don’t miss your chance to see them live – grab your tickets to Hootie and the Blowfish’s tour and buy Morgan Wallen tickets now.
