Homes in Delaford, Tobago experienced damage from high winds and fallen trees on July 1, as the island braced for the impact of Hurricane Beryl. Fortunately, the hurricane shifted northwards, sparing the island from a direct hit. Despite this, Tobago still faced heavy rain and strong winds.
One resident, Cleatus John, had two breadfruit trees fall on his home in Delaford, causing damages to the spouting and roof. Luckily, the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Another home in Delaford had its roof partially ripped off by the wind, with residents scrambling to secure it before further damage occurred.
In another house, a tree fell but fortunately, the residents were not home during the incident. Power in the area went out around 7am and remained unrepaired by 2pm. The community of Delaford was left to assess and recover from the impacts of the storm, with the support of local authorities.
