Martina Laird is a versatile actor who seamlessly transitions from film and television to London theatre and voice work that has taken her all across Europe. She has graced the screen in the live action film adaptation of The Little Mermaid and in a Hallmark channel remake of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Laird’s upbringing in a home deeply rooted in the arts, especially in Caribbean theatre, has led to a successful and diverse acting career.

From early television appearances in Banyan’s Epiphany to starring roles in feature films like Blitz and Forget Me Not, Laird has proven her talent across various genres. However, her most recognized role to date was in the Walt Disney live action version of The Little Mermaid, where she played Lashana, a maid in the castle.

Apart from her film career, Laird has been a regular face on British television, with iconic roles like Paramedic Comfort Jones in Casualty. She has also ventured into voice work for video games like World of Warcraft and has left her mark on BBC radio with captivating performances in radio plays and literature recordings.

Laird’s passion for live theatre shines through in her stage performances, with one of her most notable roles being Sophia Adams in Moon on a Rainbow Shawl. She has also delved into Shakespearean productions for decades, including all-female adaptations of Julius Caesar, Henry IV, and The Tempest set in a women’s prison.
