A tragic incident occurred near a bar in Siparia on July 15, resulting in the death of a 33-year-old woman named Anezia Lewis. After being struck by a drunk driver, Lewis fought for her life at the San Fernando General Hospital but sadly passed away on July 18 at 12.20 am.
According to the South Western Division police, the fatal event took place around 10 pm in the car park of Secret Lounge Bar at SS Erin Road, Quarry Village in Siparia. Lewis was engaged in a conversation with a relative who was seated in his car when a blue Nissan driven by a 68-year-old man from Sudama Alley, Siparia, entered the scene. The driver, who was under the influence, reversed his vehicle onto the roadway and struck Lewis, causing severe injuries to her feet, belly, and hands.
Following the accident, Lewis was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment while the police promptly arrested the driver responsible for the tragic incident. The community mourns the loss of Anezia Lewis and calls for justice to be served in this heartbreaking case.
